This achievement not only reflects the film’s artistic success but also signals a significant shift in how Indian audiences embrace culturally rooted and scripturally faithful storytelling in a modern cinematic language.

Meet the Visionary Director Ashwin Kumar

At the centre of Mahavatar Narsimha’s spiritual and cinematic triumph is Ashwin Kumar, the film’s debutant director, whose journey is nothing short of remarkable. Ashwin is not a product of the commercial film circuit but a devotee scholar turned filmmaker. Who has spent much of the last decade studying Sanatan Dharma, the Puranas, and the Bhagavata tradition.
Born in a family rooted in Vaishnav philosophy, Ashwin left a promising corporate career to pursue storytelling as seva (spiritual service). He envisioned Mahavatar Narsimha not as a film project, but as a Yagna (sacred offering), aiming to bring untouched scriptural narratives to life for the modern world.

Over four and a half years, Ashwin worked closely with scholars of Sanskrit texts, animators, musicians, and voice artists to ensure that every element of Narasimha’s appearance. The chants in the background respected the original scriptural references without distortion.
Ashwin Kumar has since announced that Mahavatar Narsimha is the first of seven films under his broader vision: The Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, which will chronicle the ten avatars (Dashavatara) of Lord Vishnu in chronological order.
“This is not fiction. This is our itihasa. Our duty was to show it as it is, not dramatize what’s already dramatic in its divine truth.” – Ashwin Kumar, Director

A Devotional Epic Brought to Life by Passionate Creators

Ashwin Kumar is joined by screenwriters Jayapurna Das and Rudra Pratap Ghosh with Shilpa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai producing the film under Kleem Productions and the highly respected Hombale Films backing the theatrical release.
The creative team’s guiding principle throughout development was authenticity. Rather than loosely inspired fantasy. Mahavatar Narsimha is a direct cinematic adaptation of scriptural accounts from the Vishnu Purana, Narasimha Purana, and the Shrimad Bhagavata Purana. No modern liberties. No reinterpretations. Just pure storytelling through sacred texts. Which makes it more authentic and interesting for the audience.
